Event Information
There will be 2 fly-in events in the lead up to the Hoxton Park Airport closure. The first event will be on the original planned date of Sunday, 19th October 2008 from 12:00 midday to sunset. This date was set based on the initial closing date of the airport.
The second event, will be the actual “final fly-in for Hoxton Park Airport” (aka Vale Hoxton Park, Hoxton Park Wake…) and will be held in December 2008, the exact date to be confirmed. This date will be based on the revised closing date of the airport.
Fly, drive, ride or walk to either event, everyone is welcome. Rain, hail or shine its on, so come on over and support aviation in Sydney just before Hoxton Park Airport closes!
Bring a plate of nibbles TO SHARE! Read more on food arrangements for both events.
Pilots flying in should arrive prior to midday so that aircraft parking can be sorted early.

"Selling off secondary airports is like selling of your children. These facilities grow the future of aviation."
daniel johnson,
"in terms of safety, hoxton is the only viable alternqate that is a north south runway that provides backupp for ysbk. the next alternate is all the way in wollongong which so stupid"
Ron Koenig,
"The closure of YHOX is a serious safety issue; YSBK, YSCN and YSRI are E-W and a 30-35 knot southerly is likely to cause a serious landing incident. Australian Government GA policy is shameful. Closing Hoxton is a disgrace."
Glenn Weston,
"It's a disgrace that this can be allowed to be shutdown, Aviation in Australia is simply treated as a joke !"
Mark Watson,
"Sorry to see the end of old 16 and 34.
Ill miss flying old VH-ADA out of there."
xxxxxxxx,
"BAL admit on their website that closing Hoxton Park was for monetary reasons. Sadly, I don't think a petition will help. I wouldn't feel as safe flying in from the south or west without Hoxton, especially as YSBK no longer has a N-S rwy."
John Fox,
"
Who are the owners and how much are they asking for the land? Government? Well now I know why they want out!!! To "prop" up the world economy from the sell-off. Put it up the Government and the owners too.

Paul Clegg,
"Disappointed with government for under-priced sale of public real estate for unneeded and failing property development. Disappointed with CASA for turning blind eye on safety. Another Historic Place will be lost. Please make it right.
"
Jacki King,
"Oh that the current government would have the spine to reverse the stupidity of Howard and Anderson who sold out general aviation in the Sydney Basin to the big money end of town. Or don't they care?"

"With airlines needing additional qualified pilots, where's the sense in closing aerodromes? Schofields sits idle, why not open that again?"
James Coughlan,
"Dont let it happen. We need this airport."
Brenden Scott,
"Developers taking away a extreamly importand crosswind runway from the Sydney Basin. We will have to wait when we get the southerly buster coming along and we get MAYDAY's coming in from light aircraft wanting to fly into Sydney Intl."
